Beer Menu & Tasting Notes


1. Ramsgate Brewery, GADDS No 7.  3.8% Kent

Pours out in a light, clear amber colour.  Aroma of bitter hops & barley with some grassy hints. Taste of bitter hops, light malt, light barley, nuts & bread. Bitter finish.  Nice & refreshing.

2. Timothy Taylor, LANDLORD.  4.3% West Yorkshire

A classic strong pale ale. This is a refreshingly reliable full drinking pale ale with a complex and hoppy aroma. Has a real “Pulling Power”. Four times CAMRA’s Beer of the Year.

3. Daleside Brewery, MONKEY WRENCH.  5.3% North Yorkshire

A powerful strong ale, mid brown to ruby in hue.  Aromas of fruit & hops, malt & hoppyness on the tongue with some sweetness.

4. Rat Brewery,  COLLABORAT.  5.5% West  Yorkshire

A stunning smoked stout, salted caramel & chocolate combine to produce a surprisingly amazing beer which tantalises the taste buds throughout.

5.Coastal Brewery, EROSION.  7.5% Cornwall

A beast of a dark old ale, with caramel, molasses & roast malt on the palate & some liquorice on the finish.

6. Acorn Brewery,  BAR-STEWARD.   4.5%% South Yorkshire

Brewed in collaboration with the Bar-Steward sons of Val Doonican to celebrate the launch of their 2nd album.  Light golden in coloured beer with a subtle malt base bursting with fruit/berry aromas.

7. Whitehorse Brewery, VILLAGE IDIOT 4.1% Oxfordshire

Brewed in honour of the “Village Idiot” who stands at the every bar in the land.  This golden beer uses an idiotic amount of fresh hops to create a refreshing clean bitter beer, with fine pale malt and a touch of wheat for a fine balance.

8. Saltaire Brewery, HOP #256.  5.0%  West Yorkshire

A UK first tasting! Full flavoured pale ale, with strong citrus hop flavours from exciting new US hop #256.

9.Cairngorm Brewery, NESSIE MONSTER MASH. 4.1% Inverness

A predominantly malty, lightly hopped beer giving a satisfying fullness of flavour with a warm finish.  A glass or two is a must before seeking an audience with the monster!


10. Tring Brewery, DOCKEY.  3.9% Hertfordshire

Earthy brown in colour, this brew is all about malt character with the use of brown & rye crystal malt delivering a warming depth of flavour to this session bitter.  Not wanting to dominate these attributes, we use an appropriate amount of challenger hops.

11.Gun Dog Ales, SPRINGER. 4.1%  Northamptonshire

An all English hopped amber ale, with hints of cut grass and fruit notes.

12.North Cotswold, MORETON MILD.  3.8% Derbyshire

A classic dark mild with a nutty palate.

13.Bradfield Brewery, PLUM BITER 4.4% Northants

A deep rich reddish coloured smooth on the palate beer with tones of plum on the finish.

14. Butcombe Brewery, BUTCOMBE BITTER. 4.0%  Bristol

The west country’s favourite beer derives from pure Mendip spring water. Notably bitter, clean taste, refreshing dry and distinctive.  Made with 100% best maris otter malt (the rolls Royce of malts) together with a blend of

(never divulged) English hop varieties.... Buttcombe bitter is a moreish Mendip masterpiece!

15. J. Churches, PILATE’S CHOICE.  4.3%  Northamptonshire

A red ruby best bitter brewed with pale & crystal malt giving a subtle coffee & deep malt flavours. Julian's newest beer & very nice it is!

16. Ilkley Brewery, MARY JANE.  3.5.% West Yorkshire

Made with high quantities of Amarillo hops this pale crisp beer has a refreshing citrus aromas.  According to the song Mary Jane was courted on Ilkey moor bah tat!


1. Henry Westons, OLD ROSIE WITH RHUBARB 4.0% (Medium)

This delicious oak-matured straw coloured Herefordshire cider has now been refreshingly infused with rhubarb, giving it a hint of pink, a subtle medium sweet cider fruit flavoured and a tart finish.

2. Gwent y Ddraig, FARMHOUSE PRIDE CLOUDY SCRUMPY               

    A cloudy old fashioned cider       5.3% (Med-Dry)

3. Gwent y Ddraig, DOG DANCER. 6.5% (Med/Dry)

Produced from bittersweet cider apples blended with a true sharp cider apple, it is a light straw coloured cider with a medium dry, smooth, crisp, slightly sharp characteristic.

4.Gwent y Ddraig, BLACK DRAGON 7.2% (Med—Dry)

Matured in oak barrels to produce a cider rich in colour, body & flavour with a fresh fruity aroma.

5. Lilley’s, BEE STING.  7.5% (Sweet)  PERRY

Sweet but incredibly refreshing with a glorious fresh tasting pear flavour & a wonderful pear aroma.

Reserve beers

Oakham Ales AZACCA 4.2%

 A golden beer with citrus, ripe mango, pear and apple flavours and an aromatic tropical fruit background “An exciting single hop beer using a new U.S. grown hop variety - Azacca - for the first time in the UK. Could this be the next Citra?   Azacca is named after the Haitian God of Agriculture.

Black Sheep, HOLY GRAIL. 4.0% North Yorkshire

A refreshing full flavoured golden ale with citrus notes and a long crisp finish.

 Bowman Ales, WALLOPS WOOD.  4%  Hampshire

A good light chestnut colour and rather more malty than hoppy.  The aroma is light & pleasant. A traditional best bitter style that should please the brown beer enthusiast.

J church CANNON CRIPSPARKLE.  4.5%  Northamptonshire

Animal Brewery, BIG BANG.  4.8%  Buckinghamshire

Exploding out of the eternal darkness of roast rye, a dark amber ale with coffee toast flavours, slowly evolving into an Anglo-American hop finish.


Whitehorse Brewery, BLACK BEAUTY.  3.9%  Oxfordshire

SIBA regional bronze winner2013.  This mild joined the stable last year as a dark outsider and dark is the word! Rich in ruby colour, using the best chocolate malt and fine English fuggle hops to achive a flavour that leaves the heard behind, as you might expect a true champion,


Rat Brewery, PLAGUE PORTER.  4.3%  West Yorkshire

Classically dark, roasted malts dominate the pallet

Blue Monkey, BG SIPS.  4%

A pale intensely hoppy beer with enticing tropical fruit aromas

Castle Rock, HARVEST PALE  3.8% Nottinghamshire

Brewed with a gently kilned malt and an aromatic blend of American hops added during the brewing process gives this pale beer exceptional poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a crisp finish. Champion Beer of Britain 2010.

HOT DOG. 3.9%  (Amber) Northamptonshire

Uber cool, quintessentially English & Ever so popular, The Ale is everything you'd expect from a summer beer.  A sweet golden ale with a clean citrus hop finish, it delivers the ideal refreshment to a hot day.
